About Course

The Grade 1 course is designed to help children build a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, science, and everyday life skills. Through fun and engaging activities, students not only develop essential academic knowledge but also creativity, confidence, and curiosity to explore the world around them.

Objectives:
· To develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English.
· To build knowledge of phonics, grammar, and sentence structure.
· To encourage creativity and expression through storytelling and writing.
· To recognize and use numbers from 1 to 100.
· To build basic addition and subtraction skills.
· To teach place value using tens and ones.
· To introduce shapes, graphs, symmetry, simple patterns, and fractions.
· To teach time reading and basic measurements.
· To distinguish between living and non-living things.
· To understand the life cycle of plants.
· To learn about animals’ habitats and needs.
· To understand basic parts and functions of the human body.
· To explore weather conditions and seasons.
· To teach the reading and interpretation of simple maps.
· To develop a basic understanding of community and culture, and goods and services.
· To introduce concepts of supply and demand.
· To introduce concepts of democracy and voting.
· To introduce concepts of saving and budgeting.
· To provide knowledge of key historical events and important holidays.
· To introduce computers and their parts.
· To teach the use of keyboard and mouse.
· To teach basic skills in word processing.

What Will You Learn?

  • By the end of grade 1, students would be able to:
  • Recognize, write, and correctly pronounce all letters of the alphabet.
  • Read and understand simple words, sentences, and short stories.
  • Identify and use basic grammar elements, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, singular/plural forms, and opposites.
  • Demonstrate phonemic awareness and beginning literacy skills.
  • Read, write, and count numbers from 1 to 100.
  • Solve simple addition and subtraction problems.
  • Break numbers into tens and ones.
  • Identify common shapes and read simple graphs.
  • Recognize symmetrical objects and understand simple fractions.
  • Tell the time on a clock and measure basic quantities (length, weight, temperature).
  • Identify living and non-living things.
  • Explain the life cycle of plants.
  • Describe animals’ habitats and their needs (food, water, shelter).
  • Recognize main human body parts and their functions.
  • Name different seasons and types of weather.
  • Locate directions on a map.
  • Understand basic economic concepts like goods, services, supply, and demand.

  • Identify important historical events and celebrate national holidays.
  • Identify computer parts (monitor, CPU, keyboard, mouse).
  • Use the mouse and type simple words on the keyboard.
  • Open, create, and save a simple word-processing document.
  • Write and share short original stories.
